PICK YOUR PROJECT
Listen To Your Heart
This is one of the most important aspects of giving your gifts away! Why? You want to feel good about it and make sure that your gifts help a cause that speaks to your heart. Ask yourself these questions:
If I could help anyone, who would I help?
What do I know is an important community issue that I'd like to have an impact on?
Who has helped me in the past that I'd like an opportunity to give back to?
Here's a couple more tips when you're working on finding your perfect MOB gift recipient:
Often times websites of organizations list their needs. This helps you to make a wish list for your birthday.
Reach out to organizations you are interested in! They may have ideas that aren't listed on their websites.
We Are Here To Help!
If you're needing some inspiration, want to talk through what speaks to your heart and find an organization to work with, feel hesitant or unsure how to contact someone and offer up your presents?
My One Birthday is here to help!
Head on over to the Contact Us page and send us your thoughts. We'll get right back to you and help you to pick the perfect My One Birthday project.
Feeling stuck or maybe not sure which direction to go?
We have a few suggestions for you!
Love animals? The local animal shelters and foster organizations are almost always looking for donations. Our founder had a My One Birthday where she asked for bags of dog food and ended up with over 100 bags to give to a local rescue.
Hoping to help families? Ronald McDonald House locations are all over the United States are are always in need of paper products, kitchen items, cleaning supplies and more! You can look up your local Ronald McDonald House HERE and then reach out to see what they need most.
Passionate about healthcare? Of course there are hospitals everywhere. All you have to do is ask and they can help you find a need they have. From chemo bags for newly diagnosed adult cancer patients to toys and bouncy seats for newborn intensive care patients, MOB'ers have made a difference for these families and you can too!
Would serving meals for the homeless fill your soul? Ask for peanut butter, jelly, bread, chips and lunch sacks for your birthday and then have a sandwich making party! You can then go hand out the sack meals where it would serve your community best.
